About Driving Lessons

We strongly recommend taking lessons with a registered Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) or Potential Driving Instructor (PDI). Only qualified instructors are legally allowed to charge for driving tuition. If someone is offering paid lessons without being properly registered, this can be reported to the DVSA.

If you plan to practise with a friend or family member without payment, make sure they:

• Are at least 21 years old
• Hold the correct licence for the type of vehicle you’re driving (for example, a manual licence for a manual car)
• Have held a full UK driving licence for a minimum of three years
